Modeling Adhesive Hysteresis

چکیده

When an elastomer approaches or retracts from adhesive indenter, the elastomer’s surface can suddenly become unstable and reshape itself quasi-discontinuously, e.g., when small-scale asperities jump into snap out of contact. Such dynamics lead to a hysteresis between approach retraction. In this study, we quantify numerically analytically ensuing unavoidable energy loss for rigid indenters with flat, Hertzian randomly rough profiles. The range adhesion turns be central, in particular during rarely modeled For example, negligible traction on but quite noticeable nominal plane contacts hinges use short-range adhesion. Central attention is paid design cohesive-zone models efficient simulation dynamical processes. Our study includes Griffith’s type analysis lost fracture regeneration flat interface. It reveals that leading-order corrections are due finite-range scale at best, third root linear mesh size, while errors pull-off force disappear linearly.

Hysteresis: Phenomenon and Modeling in Soil- Water Relationship

Hysteresis has been widely recognized in the soil water relationship. In this paper, a detailed review of hysteresis was performed in relation to its models. So far, different models have been suggested to describe hysteresis in the water retention curve (WRC) that could be categorized into two main groups: conceptual and empirical models. The models in the first group are based on the domain t...

Role of Surface Roughness in Hysteresis during Adhesive Elastic Contact.

In experiments that involve contact with adhesion between two surfaces, as found in atomic force microscopy or nanoindentation, two distinct contact force (P) vs. indentation-depth (h) curves are often measured depending on whether the indenter moves towards or away from the sample. The origin of this hysteresis is not well understood and is often attributed to moisture, plasticity or viscoelas...

Preisach Hysteresis Modeling and Applications

Preisach modeling, long known in the area of magnetics, has introduced mathematical abstraction to the modeling of the highly nonlinear and complex phenomenon of hysteresis. The 2D Preisach-type models presented here, departing slightly from the classical formulation, waive some of its limitations while maintaining the major advantages of simplicity and speed in calculations. Results on differe...
